ABOUT CHOCOLATE GOURMET CHOCOLATES
Chocolate Gourmet Chocolates was founded by a husband and wife team who love chocolate.
Michele, otherwise known as “Chocolate”, developed a taste for gourmet chocolates after she married her husband David, otherwise known as “The Gourmet”, who has had a 35-year love affair with chocolate. As they travelled across the country in search of regional gourmet chocolate manufacturers, they were fortunate enough to stumble upon some exceptional chocolate makers that were virtually unknown outside their regional marketplace.
This gave Chocolate and The Gourmet an idea: Why not create a website that features these lesser-known gourmet chocolate makers to help other chocolate lovers get the opportunity to experience the fine specialty chocolates that they would most likely never have known about. The philosophy is simple: Find the best gourmet chocolates made in America. Prepare sampler packages from the best in show from each chocolate category. Treat people to a wide variety of gourmet chocolate offerings. Let people decide on their own which ones they like best.
Next, and more challenging, came the task of deciding which chocolate makers represented the best in class for each category. There are literally hundreds of small, specialty gourmet chocolate makers across the country. Choosing the best in class was no easy feat. Chocolate and The Gourmet spent months sifting through potential suppliers, sampling their products and narrowing down their list. Their criteria were simple, to make the first cut, they had to be in unanimous agreement about the quality of each sample. From this exercise, the Chocolate and The Gourmet seals of approval were developed.
To make the second cut, each finalist needed to prove they could manufacture their products with a nearly perfect level of consistency time after time, batch after batch, month after month. Several contenders fell out of the race at this point due to variable quality over time; others were eliminated from the launch group because of minor variations. None-the-less, Chocolate and The Gourmet ate a lot of chocolate and had to make some very tough decision.
After nearly 12 months of planning, preparing, sampling, designing, negotiating and praying, the Chocolate Gourmet Chocolates website was launched. If you love chocolate and enjoy sampling gourmet chocolates from across the country, we hope you give us a try. It is our goal to keep our customers coming back until they have tried every gourmet chocolate we have available.
